Colette's Icmeler Holiday

Postby Colette » 19 Oct 2008 16:04

The time came to get up for my holidays, I was excited, this year I was driving to Manchester Airport, so off I went to pick up ma and pa, and off we went to the Premier Park to dump my car.

Check was super quick at Mannie, I had to hide my handbag though as they have a one bag rule and I had 2 bags * oops * Headed through security and as usual dad set the alarms off, had himself searched and bag opened, naughty boy had scissors in his bag DOH I did tell him.

Flight was un eventful, TC planes are so cramped, even after losing 2 and half stone it was cramped, they think everyone is a size zero lol

Dalaman nightmare began, one hour wait to get through visa control and a further 40 min's for our bags, mums was the last to come off the belt, in the mean time I was commenting on someone's luggage and the women next to me said, " Oh that's mine" oops that will teach me ha ha

An hour and 45 min's later we headed for the ICR man to be told the transfer bus had gone as we had taken that long, but no problem they bundled us into a car and sent us on our way, Ten min's down the road we met another bus and got on with them, It was some old bronze coloured thing with no mention of ICR anywhere, had I of been travelling alone it might have spooked me.

Arrived at Vince's, no problems, apartments were lovely, clean, well equipped etc, only downside was the main road outside was so noisy, it was like living on the M 6. So that night after a meal at Vince's and a quick hello to The Havana lads, I thought yes sleep in the lounge!! All was good till 4.30AM when Eastenders kicked out, no the people weren't noisy, Mad Max the police dog barked from then till 8 am, and did so each night, so every day when I went past and Max was fast asleep I woke the bugger up ha ha

Met up with all our friends over there, Salman, Ollie, Selime, Firat, Za Za, Leon etc etc Was lovely to see them all again and lovely to meet loads of forum members, can't name them all as there were too many lol

Meals out were nice, although no where except Vince's served really hot food, I like my food bubbling so I know it's cooked and it just didn't happen, In the Waterfall I wasn't even sure it was chicken I was eating so I left it. Tried Jimmy Okimo's this year and had a lovely meal there. The Titanic was nice food but the man in there hassled us to re book and kept telling us how he was on some BBC 1 show, so we ate and didn't return.

The Baron man was his usual RUDE self so we never went there on principle, one of our fave places Cans Cafe up past Cafe Del Mar was appalling and disgusting this year, big let down.

Had a lovely night in The Majestic for Diane (Dimries) 23 rd birthday lol great meal and a good show in there.

Enough about food, making me hungry lol we hired a jeep and drove over to Datca, a gorgeous little place abour an hour or so away. Driving was no problem, I expected it to be horrendous but it was fine, but not knowing how much petrol we would need to get to datca and back we asked the petrol station man, BIG MISTAKE, he put 100 lira in and we came back with over half a tank full.

Donna's boat trip was a hoot, for anyone who wonders why I spent the day under a towel, it was because A) I was freezing and B) I had a vertigo attack, which happens when I am not on dry land. Shame the weather spoilt it a bit but it was a great day.

The noise this year from bars seemed louder than ever, esp The Dream 3 bells, The Amelia, Blue Rainbow and The Moon one, but most bars in general seemed louder than ever, which is a shame I think, but hey ho.

Of course it wouldn't be my review if I didn't mention the Street Cats. I bought loads of biccies from Tansas and went and fed every cat I saw. Also called in at the Cats shop in Turunc and got some great information from them and left a donation. I have just had an email from Fiona over there who has found a Turkish man in Icmeler willing to help out with the street cats campaign which is great news.

All too soon it was time to come home, final meal at vinces, and before we knew it the bus was there waiting for us, a nice silver one this time, with a driver who thought he was competing in the formula one lol

A big delay at Dalaman, then another un eventful flight home.

Probably will think of more to add but that's it for now, hope your all not too bored.

xx
