not spent it yet geordie, debate going on, on where to go.....we are taking our grandson for a week next year...must be mad.
as he'll be 13 in feb we thought we'd treat him, as he won't want to go away with 2 oldies after that lol.

thomas cook...not if my life depended on it will i ever use them again. i'll make sure when i book they aren't lurking in the background under another name.
you away again soon ? we go torquay 8th august

Hi Mansy,

Yep, you must be mad taking a 13 year old away!!

Don't blame you with Thomas Cook mind .... Having said that we're going to Gambia in Feb for a week with them flying from Birmingham  .. Here's hoping it all goes okay??

We've got 1 little jaunt left this year, off to Crete 16/9 for a week .. Never been, so it's another place chalked off and see what it's like?

Regarding Icmeler, we don't know when/if we'll be back ... Certainly not next year, we were again disappointed  and a long story short, we were nearly robbed by someone we thought we could trust over some jewellery, well a Watch to be exact and it left a bitter taste ... Tried to charge over £100 when it was worth around £15 max and spoilt our last couple of days

Keep in touch

Not going back next year ourselves either Geordie. We feel a break is needed. Portugal with the grandson next year, and we are looking at Goa for our main holiday. Feel like a traitor not going back, we'll miss it, but needs must......a change is needed. We made it a rule never to buy any jewellery abroad, I know people do but I would never feel sure I was getting what I was paying for. I'd rather pay a bit extra and get it at home, not that I buy any now, I have what I need (and Derek is a skinflint so wouldn't buy me any )

Lmao ... Derek tight Mansy? .. Surely not!

He's that tight I bet he spotted me and Mrs G that time in the Tandoori and whispered 'there they are over there look, but don't wave as I'll have to get a round of Efes in!'

Anyway, we're the same and feel like traitors holidaying elsewhere etc and we will miss many good friends out there, but gotta try different places as you're only here once

Portugal/Alvor is nice and Goa sounds fantastic ... Although we aren't 'poor' pensioners yet so can't afford it! :D

Crete in 5 weeks or so, Gambia in Feb for a week so far for us ... Also looking at doing a 3 night trip over the Winter to Iceland for the Northern Lights, Whale watching and Lagoon, do u know anyone that's been?

Regarding the Jewellery it is a worry, but too late as Mrs G is covered in it!

Who's been snooping on our page...not very interesting is it !!!

Icmeler's in our blood Geordie, we'll be back, but not next year. Hubby awaiting a date for knee replacement on his other leg now. So it all depends on that & his recovery. It's killing me because I can't book any holidays as yet.

Feel free to join in stevieG, it's all very boring lol.

Hubby had one knee replaced 4 years ago, he recovered well, which is good because he is a keen cyclist. He was back on his bike quite quick and back with his cycling club buddies within 6 months. He'll be fine I'm sure.

It will be fun going through the airport though with 2 titanium knees !! It's bad enough with 1 setting everything off.

Yep Stevie all are welcome in our 'Snug' ... Glad to see Mansy enjoys my company so much! Lol

Regarding Icmeler I hope to be back sometime, just don't know when? ... See how it goes next year I suppose :?

Anyway, down to 3 weeks this Friday for Crete! ... Yee ha!

can't get Icmeler out of my head.....no matter where i look at for a holiday ICMELER is always there lurking in the background.
I compare accommodation, and it always springs back to Icmeler. Ive come to the conclusion its incurable.
Not one day goes by without it being mentioned or talked about in our house.

Oh well, after 13 years or more, twice a year, I'm certain we will be back.

We will be Mansy ... Just when is the question?

Mrs G wants to give it a miss for a while I think, so we'll see what happens ....

It's just a shame for the Resort, as it was the place to be not so long ago, yet with all the panic over safety etc from various sources it would seem to have put many others off unfairly I'd say and the numbers in the Resort over the last couple of years back that up

I feel so sorry for the Restaurant/Bar/Trip owners as it'll be a struggle for them and I don't believe that all the panic over the Mayor's changes last year has anything to do with it.

Anyway rant over, time to start thinking about what to take to Crete

Trying 'The Gambia' in Feb for our Winter Sun fix next year, sick of rubbish weather in the Canaries!

I'll let you know what it's like Mansy  .. Going to do a few trips (Safari, River Cruise, Senegal) so we'll see Africa for the 1st time anyway ... It was cheap and just a poor man's Kenya I think!

Cyprus next June/July we think, not sure about September yet and we've been offered free accommodation with our neighbour in May in Fuerteventura for a week, it's Mrs G's 'BIG 50' so a cheap getaway :D

I love holidays!!!!

Geordie I am not having a go at your choices but I am looking at some of the destinations you have mentioned and comparing to Turkey

Newspapers go on about Turkey being dangerous and you all know resorts are ok but

Gambia there are people being blown up, heads coming off, resorts being attacked

Cyprus though no trouble reported is only 1 hour away from Syria by boat

Its crazy what the newspapers can report and not report

Wherever you all go make sure you are vigilant

Enjoy everywhere and anywhere as we aint here for too long so grab everything while you can
